Bird-Monkey Creature Design Complete!

Finally the long creature design progress is complete. As you are aware i started the initial design by looking to birds and monkeys and i needed to over come the problem of reaching hard shell encased fruit in high, hard to reach places.

My designs started as a Green Woodpecker, Marmoset (Bird-Monkey), and with continued research into animals including, the Flying Squirrel, Platypus, Sloth, Parrot and Rhino, i improved and altered my design according to fact. This way i produced something unique but supported by facts, all contributing to my goal of producing 'Believable, Imaginary Creatures'. The entire design process of this creature is in the 'CREATURE DEVELOPMENT' section of this Blog, so if you have a few hours to spare feel free to read through my Design Decisions based on the facts i discovered through research, and also my methods of adding texture to my work for the first time.

I am yet to come across a name for this creature but they seem extremely well suited to their environment, so far i have spotted up to 10 of them within the branches of a tree. Gliding from one to the next they appear to have a well formed community, sticking close to their group, some relaxing upon branches while others appear to be picking bugs from others fur, similar to the way primates behave.

A sound of a knocking and scraping can be heard as they use their beak-like structure to assist the removal of tree bark which i can assume is to capture insects, insect larvae or collect tree sap.
I have witnessed the extraordinary method in which they do this, once a satisfactory hole has been formed, using its beak and claws, the creature simply presses its beak structure against the bark as it has evolved an arch way for its long, assumingly sticky, saliva filled tongue to reach inside without opening its mouth.
